Kim Monroe’s Music Minute April 3rd

We all know Kirk Hammett as guitarist for Metallica, but did you know he is also an art collector?  Not just any art, Hammett collect classic horror and sci-fi movie posters.  And, from August 12th through November 26th more than 90 pieces of the guitarists collection will be on display at Peabody Essex Museum.

In other Metallica related news, former bassist Jason Newsted shared the reasons he decided to shelf his solo metal project simply called Newsted.  The bassist said it started as a 50th birthday present to himself to prove he could still do it, but at the end of it, the whole thing cost him hundreds of thousands of dollars to keep the DIY project afloat.

And now for something completely different, check out the Anthrax cover of the Kansas classic, “Carry On My Wayward Son.”  The song is included as the bonus track of their latest, “For All Kings.”

About Kim Monroe

Born in Northeast Ohio, traveled to Charlotte, NC, Seattle, Cleveland and finally back to Seattle. This is, by far, my favorite city in the US, not to mention the best people! I am a happy mother of two great kids and lots of animals! In my rare downtime, I enjoy reading and watching true crime shows, plus American Horror Story every season!
