Kim Monroe’s Music Minute August 30th

As Mtv continues to become meaningless in the music world, for some odd reason they continue to have award shows.  This past weekend during the awards, 30 Seconds To Mars lead singer, Jared Leto, was given the opportunity to give tribute to Chester Bennington and Chris Cornell, for about 2 minutes and as they began to show a clip of Linkin Park from the 2010 awards show, the network cut to commercial.

The planned Lynyrd Skynyrd movie “Street Survivor:  The True Story of the Lynyrd Skynyrd Plane Crash,” looks like it will be shelved.  The families of Ronnie Van Zant and Steve Gaines, who both died in the crash joined the band’s current guitarist Gary Rossington in suing former drummer Artimus Pyle over his plans to act as a producer and consultant for the film.  Pyle violated a previous consent order, according to the suit, and a judge agreed issuing a permanent injunction against the movie.

Scorpions guitarist, Rudolf Schenker, opened up recently on the band’s decision to split with drummer James Kottak.  Schenker said he is sad about the decision, but the band felt that they could no longer depend on the drummer due to his battles with alcoholism.

About Kim Monroe

Born in Northeast Ohio, traveled to Charlotte, NC, Seattle, Cleveland and finally back to Seattle. This is, by far, my favorite city in the US, not to mention the best people! I am a happy mother of two great kids and lots of animals! In my rare downtime, I enjoy reading and watching true crime shows, plus American Horror Story every season!
