Kim Monroe’s Music Minute August 31st

As the tragic flooding continues in Texas, The American Red Cross put out a call to the ATX Music Office to ask for their help in recruiting some musicians to perform for some of the displaced in the Austin area.  In less than 24 hours they had more than 165 volunteers and as of right now more than 300 musicians have stepped up.  Music heals…

While friends and fans of Chris Cornell and Chester Bennington are still trying to understand the loss of two very talented and influential artists, Alice In Chains guitarist, Jerry Cantrell,  recently weighed in.  Cantrell, who dealt with the loss of his original lead singer, Layne Staley, to addiction says it’s been a horrible year and very unfortunate to have lost these guys.  The guitarist went on to say Cornell’s death cut deep for him personally and although he didn’t know Bennington quite as well, he says it hurts.

Rush fans that were getting excited about the possibility of a collaboration between Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson, there’s some bad news.  According to guitarist Alex Lifeson that rumor is just a rumor and at this time there are no plans for the two to work together on music.
