Kim Monroe’s Music Minute July 4th

When Slipknot/Stone Sour singer Corey Taylor isn’t battling with Nickelback’s Chad Kroeger, he’s defending Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington.  Linkin Park’s new album “One More Light” received mixed reaction from fans, prompting Bennington to fire back via social media telling fans to “move on” or even threatening to “punch” a fan in the mouth.  Taylor suggested the singer be careful with his comments, but does respect the fact that he is standing up for his music.

While fans wait and wonder about a new Black Keys album, Dan Auerbach is busy celebrating his second solo release.  Auerbach’s second solo album “Waiting On A Song” has just produced the guitarists first number 1 song called “Shine On Me.”

Before becoming one of the record industry’s most powerful men, Jimmy Iovine was beginning to make his mark as a record producer.  Iovine recalled a story recently of hiding Stevie Nicks, who he was dating at the time, from Tom Petty so that Petty wouldn’t question his commitment while working on “Hard Promises.” Ironically, when he finally teamed Petty up with Nicks, the song “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around” was born resulting in a Top 5 hit.
