Kim Monroe’s Music Minute May 12th

Social media can be a blessing and a curse!  You can stay in touch with fans and they can let you know what they think of your new record, just ask Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington.  The singer recently lashed out at fans reminding them that they should “move on from Hybrid Theory.”  This past week, Slipknot singer Corey Taylor came to Bennington’s defense saying he might not have put it the same way, but gets the frustration.

Years ago, The Offspring’s Dexter Holland put his education on hold to follow his passion for rock n roll.  But, last week, Holland finally received his PhD in molecular biology.  Holland had been chipping away at over the years and finally finished a 175 page dissertation on the molecular dynamics of HIV and general virus/host interactions.  The Offspring will be touring this summer and fall in North American.

So, what does skateboarding legend Tony Hawk and Nine Inch Nails mastermind, Trent Reznor have in common?  Depeche Mode!  A few months ago while Depeche Mode was prepping for their upcoming tour, they asked fans to man their Facebook page and it was through that interaction that Hawk and Reznor were able to share their mutual admiration.
