Kim Monroe’s Music Minute May 18th

Rage Against The Machine/Prophets of Rage guitarist, Tom Morello,  is spearheading a benefit compilation “Hugs For Chelsea.”    The album is intended to celebrate the release of Chelsea Manning to help cover living expenses now that she has been released from prison.  Manning was set to 35 years in prison after pleading guilty to leaking classified docs to WikiLeaks.  Other artists contributing include Thurston Moore, Against Me!, Anti-Flag more.

Collectors, listen up!  The guitar that Jimi Hendrix used at the Monterey Pop Festival is going up for auction and just as the Festival celebrates it’s 50th Anniversary.  The is the Black Pepper Fender Strat that he played most of his career…and if you are confused thinking it was torched at the end of his set, nope, it was actually swapped out just before.

In a world of things you thought you’d never see, here’s a good one!  Billy Joel, Axl Rose and an AC/DC cover.  A few weeks ago during the piano man’s tour stop in LA, Rose joined him on stage for a cover of “Highway To Hell” and a Billy Joel classic “Big Shot,” and naturally, there is video.

About Kim Monroe

Born in Northeast Ohio, traveled to Charlotte, NC, Seattle, Cleveland and finally back to Seattle. This is, by far, my favorite city in the US, not to mention the best people! I am a happy mother of two great kids and lots of animals! In my rare downtime, I enjoy reading and watching true crime shows, plus American Horror Story every season!
