Kim Monroe’s Music Minute May 6th and 7th

Who doesn’t love good gossip? The latest buzz is that, once again, is that Led Zeppelin is set to reunite!  Speculation comes primarily from a cryptic message on Robert Plant’s website.  Last year, there were talks to try and reunite the band for the Dessert Trip festival and rumor is that Goldenvoice, the promoter of the event is trying to pitch the reunion again for this year’s event.

If you look back at some of the best selling hard rock/metal albums of all time, of course, you will see Metallica’s Black album near the top of the list.  That album alone has sold over 20 million copies world wide, in fact just last year it sold more than a quarter million copies.  And, all of this is good news for former bassist Jason Newsted, who was a full member of the band at that time, which entitles him to continued royalties.  The bassist recently said that he could live comfortably on the income from that album alone.

The rock world is morning the loss of Mario Mikeal Maglieri.  While his name may not ring a bell, his accomplishments certainly will.  Maglieri was the man responsible for LA’s Sunset Strip.  He started the Whisy-a-Go-Go, The Roxy and owned the infamous Rainbow Bar and Grill.
